Welcome to SYA Baseball!
Registration Open - Players & Managers PDF Print E-mail

Despite the weather, baseball season is just around the corner. Registration for the 2010 Spring Little League season continues, although a late fee ($25) now applies.  Scholarships (Becas) are available through SYA and Fairfax County as well as the Kids Serve Too military program offered through Fairfax County. If you are applying for a scholarship you should still register your child online by selecting "Mail in Check" as your payment option in addition to completing this form.

Information on tryouts for AA, AAA, and Majors has been published to the web site. We are beginning to form teams at the lower levels so don't wait to register. All teams will be announced around March 7.

Give $35 Campaign PDF Print E-mail

GIVE $35 Campaign

The SYA Baseball Board of Directors hopes everyone had a great holiday and are gearing up for Spring Baseball.  As you all know we try to accomplish a lot on the fields so our children have a great Baseball experience and this year is no exception.  We are planning on adding a new Snack Shack and Press boxes at Cub Run to enhance your community experience as well as score boards at Bull Run Elementary School and Centreridge Elementary School.  We have launched a new campaign called "Give $35 Campaign" and are hoping that you will make a contribution.  There are 2 options to choose from to make your donation.  You can either click on the Donate link in the lower right menu and contribute via Credit Card or you can print out this form and mail in a check.  We appreciate anything you can give and look forward to a great year of SYA Baseball.  You can also help out by ordering great merchandise from our new SYA Online Store.

Thanks,

SYA Baseball Board of Directors

Kids Serve Too PDF Print E-mail

Kids Serve Too is a program created by military families in support of military children who currently have a parent deployed overseas. Children in military families make sacrifices and serve their country as much as anyone in uniform. Military children quietly shoulder part of the family’s burden of overseas deployment by making sure their mom or dad know they support what they are doing and believe it is important. The daily struggles and personal sacrifices of these children go unnoticed – they receive no medals, ribbons or accolades for their contributions or their unconditional support.

The mission of Kids Serve Too is to honor, support and thank military children by offering programs and resources that demonstrate our appreciation for the sacrifices they make and the unique challenges they face. This partnership between Kids Serve Too, Fairfax County and the General Dynamics IT Fairfax Division offers scholarships to military children so they may reduce some of this stress through recreation and leisure programs.

Umpire Winter Training #2 PDF Print E-mail

(POSTPONED) SYA announces the second of 3 winter training sessions on Saturday Feb. 6 at 4:15 PM. We will using the Baseball Performance Training indoor facility in Chantilly. BPT is located at 3852 Dulles South Ct, Unit D, Chantilly VA, just off Rt 50 West about 1.5 miles west of Rt 28.

This training will be dedicated entirely to plate mechanics using the indoor batting cage. We will have the privilege of having once again Mr. Don Essex helping with training. Don is an instructor at the Little Leagues umpire school in Williamsport. His specialty is teaching plate mechanics, so I would welcome all adult veteran umpires to try to attend this session and take advantage of Don's knowledge. We will have the use of the indoor batting cage for purposes of plate training. It doesn't matter if you have been an umpire for 1 year or 20, Don is an invaluable resource for improving your skills at any level and experience.

All youth umpires are required to attend at least one of the winter indoor sessions. In addition, all umpires in SYA must be registered. You can register at SYA's Volunteer Registration. In addition you must complete a Little League Volunteer Application and submit the completed application to our Safety Officer at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or bring to this training event.

Look forward to seeing there.

Rod McCord
